The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program is calling for applications.

The program provides scholarships to Senior High School (SHS) students from Ghana to study in the United States of America for one academic year.

YES students live with American host families, attend an American high school, acquire leadership skills, and engage in activities to learn about U.S. society and its values. The students also help educate Americans about their home country and culture.

The YES program was established by U.S Congress in October 2002 in response to the events of September 11, 2001.

The program was officially launched in Ghana in 2006 in hopes to expand communication between the people of the United States and Ghana in order to promote mutual understanding and respect. Since then, over 270 Ghanaian students have completed the YES program and now participate as alumni.

This opportunity is opened to students who are:

1. In their first year of Senior High School and Possess a good academic record.

2. Attending schools in the Volta, Oti, Western, Western-North, Central and Greater Accra regions.

3. Born between February 1, 2003 and August 1, 2006.

4. Citizen of Ghana

5. Exhibiting strong leadership skills

6. Of good conduct
