Nothing’s more exciting than discovering fresh new talent and 23-year-old Tema-born and raised artiste, Calaiss (pronounced kuh-lays ) is set to make her mark in the music industry.
The artiste will be making her debut in music with her upcoming single, “Dis Side” on 3rd December which will be a precursor for her debut EP set to be released early 2021.
With influences from artistes like Saint Jhn, Drake, Trippie Red, Jaden and more evident in her upcoming debut single (yes, we got to listen to the song), Dis Side is a song hip-hop and trap lovers will totally enjoy.
Calaiss comes from a musically-inclined family and grew up listening to a lot of music. Eventually, she learned how to play the drums and the keyboard taught by her Uncle who plays almost every instrument there is. She cites other artistes like the late music icon Prince, Cruel Santino, Billie Eilish, Kaytranada, Frank Ocean, 070 shake, J.I.D, Kendrick Lamar, FKA Twigs, Joji, Col3trane, Little Simz and Asa as music influences and describes her sound as eclectic and her style, eccentric.
All of these influences from childhood till now in addition to her naturally good ear for sounds thanks to a form of synesthesia has nurtured her gift over the years and now she’s ready to show the world what she’s made of.
The upcoming single, Dis side produced by The FlowerPapi explores themes of personal freedom, dreams and ambitions of the everyday person and will be released on 3rd December 2020.
