To make sure that someone who is going to vote is indeeded that person who had registered to vote, the Electoral Commission has trained someone to act as Verification Officer at every polling station.
There are 38,622 polling stations across the length and breadth of this country and each one will have its own Verification Officer.
After the Name Reference List Officer has checked your Voter ID card with the names of eligible voters in that polling station, the Verification Officer is the next person who will attend to you.
On election day, all voters will be verified using Biometric Verification Devices (BVD).
The Verification Officer who will use the biometric devices to verify the Voter ID card of a registered voter before the voter is issued with the ballot paper.
Know that this is necessary to ensure that only those who are qualified to vote can vote.
