Why Kuami Eugene’s Number One Song On Radio Is “Open Gate”

Kuami Eugene is definitely one of the biggest artistes in Ghana. Check out what the hit songs are currently and you’d notice he’s on at least the first 3. One of his most successful songs currently include, Open Gate. It’s the one song you can hear every day from every corner in Accra at least.

Ghud Music which tracks artistes’ music and does radio analysis of several radio stations in Ghana have done an in-depth look at how well Kuami Eugene’s song, Open Gate has done on their radio charts ever since it was released.

With the release of Open Gate on the 4th of August 2020, preceding the release of his full album, the song made its first appearance just a few days after it’s release at #10 then straight to #2 the following week until finally making it to the top of the Ghud Music chart. Since then, Open Gate has been consistently topping the chart till 22nd October, before immediately bouncing back to the top of the chart for the week ending 5th November 2020.

“Open Gate” has been the number one most played song on the radio for 9 consecutive weeks (27th August – 5th November 2020). The song received airplay in 9 regions in Ghana and was played on 72 radio stations. Within the period of 27th August to 5th November 2020, Xlive Africa, Hitz FM and Okwahu FM played “Open Gate” the most.

Kuami Eugene’s other songs like Beifour, Toast, Show Body, Ghana We Dey, Wish Me Well, Wish Me Well (Remix), Angela, Wa Ye Wie, Obiaato, Meji-Meji, Hiribaba, Ohemaa, Confusion, Aku Shika, Boom Bang Bang and Hustler’s Anthem are some of the other songs of Kuami Eugene that’s received airplay and was detected in the Ghud Music database.

Congrats to Kuami Eugene and the Lynx Entertainment team for the good work put into the Son Of Africa album, churning out the all-time favourite song off the project, “Open Gate”.
