The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that Mr Constant Selemani Omari’s position as interim President of the association has been extended.
This follows the ban of CAF President by world footballs’ governing body, FIFA, for five years for breaching various codes of ethics.
Mr Ahmad Ahmad was found guilty of breaching FIFA codes of ethics relating to duty of loyalty, offering and accepting gifts, abuse of position as well as misappropriation of funds.
Mr Omari, who is also the Congo FA President, had been interim president of CAF since November 13, 2020, until the end of the month after Ahmad Ahmad contracted COVID-19 and was recovering at home.
He will remain in charge of the CAF until a new president is elected in 2021.
Constant Omari was nominated to be the first Vice President of CAF in July 2019.
