Andre Ayew To Miss Sudan Game Due To Injury

Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew will not feature for the national team in the second leg of the African Cup of Nations Qualifier (AFCON) 2021 against Sudan on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, due to an injury.

According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ayew suffered a muscle strain at the teams training session on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

“Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has been ruled out of the trip to Sudan for the second leg of the 2021 AFCON qualifier due to injury,” the GFA announced on its website.

“The Swansea City midfielder suffered a muscle strain at the team’s training session on Saturday, ruling him out of the squad for the trip.”

The 30-year-old scored twice to seal a 2-0 victory for Ghana over Sudan in the first leg of the qualifier which was played a the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday, November 12, 2020.

Ayew, however, is expected to return to Swansea City to undergo further tests to assess the extent of injury.

The Black Stars squad left Accra on Sunday morning to Sudan for the second leg of the AFCON qualifier which will be played on Omdurman on Tuesday.
