After months of delays due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the hotly anticipated reunion episode of Friends is due to start filming in March 2021, according to an announcement by actor Matthew Perry on Twitter, who said it “looks like we have a busy year coming up.”

Initially, the one-off reunion episode had been set to film in March 2020 and was repeatedly pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since airing its final episode in 2004, the cast have repeatedly insisted that a reunion would never happen.

But that changed when the cast took to social media to announce the unscripted special in February.

The episode will air on HBO Max, on a yet-to-be-confirmed date, and will reunite the show’s original cast of Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston.

Variety reports that the six Friends stars will each receive at least $2.5 million for taking part in the one-off special.
