Captain of the Black Stars, Andre Ayew, had a steller performance as he scored to goals to ensure that Ghana beat Sudan to gain all three points in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 qualifiers.
Ayew scored Ghana’s first goal in the 18th minute when he curled a free-kick into top-left corner of Sudan’s goal post.
After the goal, the Black Stars created quite a number of chances but failed to finish any of them off.
Later on in the first half, Sudan had a penalty appeal waved off by the referee, resulting in an altercation between their head coach Hubert Velud and the officials.
A few minutes after that, Andre Ayew headed in his second goal, but it was ruled out by the referee for a foul.
In the second half, Sudan looked better and played very well, but they were unable to take their chances and Andre Ayew punished them in the 80th minute with a sumptuous goal.
He dribbled past two Sudanese players and struck the ball into the net, to secure the victory for the Black Stars.
Black Stars are now top of Group C with 9 points after playing three games, ahead of the second leg of the qualifier in Sudan on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
