President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has declared one week of national mourning following the demise of Former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The President announced this in a statement, while directing that all national flags should fly at half-mast for the next seven days in all parts of the country.
The directive from the President takes effect from Friday, November 13, 2020.
President Akufo-Addo also stated that together with his Vice-President, they have suspended their political campaign for the same period, in honour of the Former President.
He also extended sympathies on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana to the Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the children, and family of the late Former President.
Former President Rawlings died at 10:10am on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he was receiving treatment after a short illness.
