President Akufo-Addo Suspends His 2020 Election Campaign In Honour of JJ Rawlings’ Passing

The passing of the former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings, just weeks away from the 2020 General Election will undoubtedly affect campaigning activities.

It has already affected the campaign of the former President John Mahama who is seeking to return to the presidency.

Now, President Akufo-Addo has also announced the suspension of his campaign for reelection.

In a statement from the President, he said Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia would also suspend his campaign for seven days in honour of the memory of the late President.

Former President Mahama also announced on Twitter that he has suspended his campaign due to the passing of Jerry John Rawlings.

Former President Mahama was in the Ashanti Region campaigning when JJ Rawlings passed away.
