I love Nigerian artistes.
I love that once a small portal is opened for international features from one artiste, every other artiste gets into it and breaks open the portal and before you know it, everyone’s getting an international feature…both established and emerging acts.
It’s beautiful to observe.
This week we are listening to Omah Lay’s Damn remix ft American artiste, 6lack.
Omah Lay’s been having a great year. He’s the new Naija kid on the block and at the moment, his song, Bad Influence has been trending consistently ever since it dropped earlier this year.
A few days ago, before announcing his incoming project, WHAT HAVE WE DONE set to be released on 20th November, Omah Lay dropped new music… a remix to one of the hits off his debut EP, Get Layd.
The song, Damn remix has been on repeat for me ever since it dropped. It’s one of those songs that sound so good you feel it’s merely a 1-minute song and you cannot help but want more.
The original version is good but for me, the remix with 6lack is goooood.
Omah Lay’s voice is so soothing even when he’s singing about heartache like he did on Bad Influence and getting 6lack on a song with him was like lego… a perfect fit. I missed 6lack’s verse the first time I listened, not because he didn’t do a good job but because his fluid voice was a great complement to Omah Lay’s! the cohesion…perfect.
The two singing about how much their lovers love them despite their million flaws is comforting, beautiful and a jam.
