Here’s Everything You Missed Out On From Day 2 Of The 2020 Glitz Africa Fashion Week

Day 2 of the 2020 Glitz Africa Fashion Week was way better than Day 1… by a huge margin! It was held at the Accra International Conference Center and a lot more people were in attendance. 12 amazing designers showcased their designs on the runway and we were blown away by a couple of them.

My absolute favourite was the designer to close the show, Christie Brown. Christie Brown is a women’s apparel and accessories manufacturer and retailer, with pieces ranging from beautiful bespoke gowns to practical yet statement ready-to-wear pieces and innovative accessories primarily inspired by African culture and art and they are definitely not a novice when it comes to creating an experience on the runway.

We watched as chairs were arranged on the runway in the dark and when the runway music started blaring over the speakers, we saw 3 silhouettes of ladies at the entrance of the runway.

The lights kept playing peek-a-boo with us; we couldn’t see the clothes or the people. All we had was our imaginations for about 3 minutes and then the lights came on. The models strutted one after the other and sat on the arranged chairs. Watch everything here.

Apart from Christie Brown, another brand I loved was Selina Beb. She is a multiple award-winning Ghanaian fashion brand that specialises in accessories. She used the runway to speak on 3 issues happening around the world. #blacklivesmatter, #stoprape and #EndSars. The audience cheered on as the models walked towards the end of the runway and back.

Zynelle Zuh came to showcase her designs from her fashion brand Zyellegant. While most of them were beautiful and easy to walk in, the others were a little problematic for some of the models. Maybe the dresses were too long or even too big. It took a while for some of the models to walk to the end of the runway and some really struggled so they don’t step on the clothes and trip. Watch our Instagram stories for more videos.

All in all, the show was a good one! It did not start at the time they stated but each designer was given at most 15 minutes to showcase their stuff and so everything was fast. We can’t wait to see what the designers today have for us.
