US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris have both issued statements after winning the 2020 US elections.

Joe Biden won the key battleground of Pennsylvania, propelling him over the 270 electoral college vote threshold required to clinch the White House.

After his victory, Biden took to Twitter to show his appreciation to Americans who voted for him and also promised to be a President for All Americans.

Joe Biden wrote: “America, I’m honoured that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.”

Kamala Harris, who has become America’s first female, first Black and first South Asian vice president-elect, also took to Twitter to issue a statement.

Kamala Harris also wrote: “This election is about so much more than Joe Biden or me. It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Let’s get started.”
