Nigeria’s Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Sunday, October 25, 2020, allegedly discovered a camera at the Lekki Toll Gate area during an inspection of the place.

The discovery of the camera by Mr Fashola happened just five days after the Nigerian military reportedly shot at unarmed protesters at the area.

A lot of the protesters reportedly sustained injuries and others died on the spot as a result of the shootings.

According to Mr Fashola, the camera must have been planted by some subversive elements prior to the reported shootings for ulterior motives.

He picked the camera with a handkerchief and handed it over to the Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for forensic investigation to “unravel the mystery surrounding the shootings at the Toll Gate.”

The news on the discovery of a camera by Mr Fashola at the Lekki Toll Gate five days after the reported shootings, did not sit well with a lot of Nigerians.

The discovery of the camera by Babatunde Fashola has also resulted in a new social media challenge dubbed #FasholaChallenge.

The challenge was started by Tiana who posted video, on Twitter, of two ladies mimicking Mr Fashola’s inspection of the Toll Gate area before discovering the hidden camera.

And it was Ovie Ofugara, the Head of Content of NotJustOk, who actually suggested a name for the challenge.

The #FasholaChallenge has been well-received by Nigerians and a lot of them are joining the challenge now.
