The 'Fast & Furious' Franchise Will Wrap Up With Two-Movie Finale

With almost 9 films under its belt, there’s no doubt many of us who grew up with the Fast & Furious franchise hoped it would continue on forever, but all good things must come to an end, and now reports have surfaced suggesting that the epic journey is going to wrap up with a two-movie finale.

According to Comicbook, the franchise will see its end after episodes 10 and 11, which will come together to form a two-part finale following the release of the ninth installment due for next year. Universal Pictures will tap director Justin Lin for the project, who has worked on multiple of the franchise’s past titles, including the upcoming F9: The Fast Saga. Information beyond this point remain scarce, and we’re not sure when the movies will begin production, which of the characters will make up the cast, or what the plot would entail, but the report does confirm that only the main franchise will be discontinued. The sequel to last year’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is still currently under development, as well as another female-fronted spin-off being written by Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel‘s Nicole Perlman, alongside Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

As for its upcoming release, F9: The Fast Saga will hit cinemas on April 2, 2021.
