Ghana’s President and the Chairman of ECOWAS, President Akufo-Addo has finally issued a statement about the End SARS protests in Nigeria.
The President, who has remained silent about the issue, today tweeted calling for the use of dialogue to resolve what he called “EndSARS impasse” in Nigeria.
The tweets came after the president was pressured by Ghanaians to make a statement about the horrible situation in Nigeria, especially following yesterday’s reportedly deadly attack on unarmed peaceful protesters by the Nigerian army.
“I have spoken with President Buhari, who is committed to this end, and has begun the processes that will lead to reform,” President Akufo-Addo added.
“Violence, be it on the part of the Police or protesters, cannot be the solution,” he said before sending his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives due to the Nigerian police brutalities.
“To the families who have lost their loved ones, I express my sincere condolences, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” he added.
