5 Things We Miss About Being Kids

A meme is born: Former Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards guard Michael Jordan cries as he takes the podium during his enshrinement ceremony into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., on Sept. 11, 2009

I still don’t understand why we wanted to grow up so bad. How did the older generation make it look like it was all fun and games when it was the total opposite? Here are 5 out of the numerous things we miss about being kids.

1. No responsibilities

Even you eating was someone’s responsibility. Everything was laid out and done for you. You didn’t have a care in the world. Even if you had responsibilities, they were chores. I would trade my current responsibilities for chores within a heartbeat. Growing up has always been a scam. Why did we allow ourselves to be lied to like this?

2. Actually enjoying holidays

Our job was just to relax or go out to eat or have fun according to the agenda of our parents. Now holidays aren’t even holidays at all especially when you work at places where work is expected from you every single day… even holidays. If you’re an entrepreneur it’s even worse because on days like this, depending on the job you own, all you see is losses because people can’t come to work. You also have no rest day because you’re constantly thinking of how to make the work result in more money.

3. Energy!

Kids have the most uncontrollable energy in them; so much so that, it’s really hard to keep them still for long. Currently, we need all that energy to live life but it’s nowhere to be found.

4. Having GHS 100 and feeling like a millionaire

Currently, GHS 100 isn’t even considered money because once you step out and breathe, it will finish.

5. Believing your parents were invincible

Growing up, we’ve all realised how fragile human life is, even for our parents. When we see them sick it feels like our world is crushing because they’re our superheroes. Nothing is supposed to make them look like that; nothing is supposed to make them sick but we have to face the realities of the world. In short, growing up sucks.
