Here’s Why The EC Is Adding 10 More Days To Filing Of Nomination At Mfantseman Constituency

Jean Mensa is the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana

In the coming week, the widow of the late Mfantseman MP Ekow Quansah Hayford, Ophelia Hayford can finally file her own nomination forms.

This comes after the Electoral Commission invoked Regulations 12, Subregulation (4) of Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I 127).

The subregulation allows 10 more days for nominees to file their nomination and in this case it was as a result of the murder of the former MP.

Last week, Ophelia Hayford officially resigned from the Ghana Police Service where she held the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police.

In the coming days after that the EC will announce those who made it to the ballot paper.
