Ronaldo Hails Neymar After His Brazil Goalscoring Record

Ronaldo has hailed Neymar after the PSG forward surpassed him to become Brazil’s second-highest goalscorer.

Neymar scored a hat-trick in Brazil’s 4-2 win over Peru in a World Cup qualifier. Neymar’s goals increased his Brazil goal-scoring tally to 64, aiding him to move past Ronaldo (62) on the list. Brazil’s goalscoring list is still topped by the legendary Pele with 77 goals.

After equalling his record, Neymar recreated Ronaldo’s iconic celebration.

Ronaldo also took to Instagram to congratulate Neymar on his achievement.

“All my respect for you Neymar Jr!” Ronaldo wrote.

“He plays a lot, gives assistance, plays, dribbles and thrashes. The sky is the limit.”

“Fly, kid! What a beautiful story you are writing. A complete and increasingly mature player. Crack! I know how heavy the hopscotch is and handling the pressure off the pitch is sometimes more challenging than the ball in the foot.”

“Now tell me: where did we come from, where did we come from… who is going to tell us what is impossible? Keep trusting your instincts because the talent is yours and nobody can take it from you.”

“You have a lot of records to overcome and its marks to leave. Proud to see a Brazilian at the top!” he added.
