Ghana Police Service Warns Of Fraudulent Activities At Public Health Facilities

The Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has warned the general public of fraudulent activities at some public health facilities in Accra.

According to a statement signed by DSP Effia Tenge, fraudsters are now using the premises of public health facilities, particularly Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for vehicle-related crimes.

“Recent reports indicate that criminals dishonestly advertise vehicles for sale via the internet and lure interested buyers from all parts of the country to the facilities to dupe them.”

“As a way to win the confidence and divert attention of prospective buyers, these swindlers mostly pose as health practitioners working from the facility or persons going to seek medical treatment. At the facility, transactions are concluded and victims swindled under the pretext of selling vehicles to them,” the statement explained.

The Ghana Police Service has, however, advised the general public to exercise due diligence in all transactions purported to be coming from, or linked to staff of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital or similar medical facilities.
