The Ivorian Community That Owes Allegiance To The Ashanti Golden Stool

Former President of Cote d'Ivoire Henri Konan Bédié meeting Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

This world, we are really one people. It’s just a matter of being able to connect the dots on how we are all related to one another.

Who would have thought that a group of people in Cote d’Ivoire would be descendants of the people who call Nsuta in the Ashanti Region their home?

Henri Konan Bedie, who was the President of Cote d’Ivoire from 1993 to 1999, and his people traced their roots to Nsuta.

In 2018, Bedie and his people made their first visit to their ancestral home in Nsuta where they met the Nsutamanhene, Nana Adu Agyei Bosanfo III.

His Excellency Henri Konan Bedie who spoke in French said they aren’t lost of their origin and that, they formed royal family in LA Cote D’Ivoire. He said it was necessary to trace their roots to Nsuta.

Two years later, he is back meeting the overlord of the Nsuta land, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Former President of Côte d’Ivoire, led an official delegation to Manhyia Palace where they were granted an audience by the King.

Talk about a homecoming. It just goes to support Pan-Africanist beliefs that we are indeed one people and the national boundaries are indeed colonial remnants meant to divide us.
