We woke up this morning to tweets about concerns from University of Cape Coast about insecurities on campus while they study for the end of semester exam.
The picture was painted of a campus that has descended in anarchy as armed robbers make the lives of students a living hell.
However, that was not a true representation of events that prevailed on campus.
Yes, the UCC campus has security problems but it was not to the level that was painted on Twitter with the #UCCLivesMatters hashtag.
However, according to reports from a Cape Coast based media house, ATL FM though there are security problems on UCC campus, no student or a group of students were shot and or brutalized by alleged armed men on campus yesterday.
The UCC hospital has not received any patients with such wounds as described by the tweets.
What allegedly happened was one student was robbed of his phone last night close to where the alleged stampede is said to have occurred.
The student willingly gave his phone to the robbers for fear of attack and it ended there.
According to ATL FM’s Mary Ama Bawa, who has followed keenly on the development also indicated that an audit of one of the viral videos showed it was actually taken in 2018.
