These Pictures Have Defined The #EndSars Protest In Nigeria

The current police brutality in Nigeria has reached it’s peak hence the campaign to end the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a unit of the Nigerian Police Force. It is a call to end police oppression and brutality in Nigeria.

Imagery during a protest and revolution is very key, it helps those outside the region or state have a visual perspective of what is going on.

In Nigeria, the government have not met the demands of the Nigerian Youth, the only official statement made by the Inspector General of Police in Nigeria states, The Special Anti-Robbery Squad have been dissolved and will be redeployed to other departments in the police force.

However the Nigerian youths have demanded more clarity from Government outlined as follows:

-Immediate release of all arrested protesters

-Justice for all deceased victims of police brutality and appropriate compensation for their families

-Setting up an independent body to oversee the investigation & prosecution of all reports of police misconduct (within 10 days)

-In line with the new Police Act, psychological evaluation & retraining (to be confirmed by an independent body) of all disbanded SARS officers before they can be redeployed

-Increase police salary so that they are adequately compensated for protecting lives and property of citizens.

The Youth of Nigeria who went out in their numbers to embark on a peaceful protest to end police brutality were met with Police Brutality. There have been some number of unconfirmed deaths and a lot of injuries due to the brute force by the Nigerian police. This hasn’t deterred the youth from protesting.

These pictures below show the extent of the protest alongside evidence of police brutality.
