When young people in Nigeria started complaining about the brutality they are facing at the hands of a special police force, they expected their celebrities to speak up and have their backs.
Later, they took to the streets and also they expected them to show up and support them in their fight to save their lives from Special Anti Robbery Squad.
While others such as Davido, Genevive Nnaji, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Olu Jacabs and others either attended the protests and/or used their social media platform to advocate in support of the young protesters, one key Nigerian celebrity was absent in all of it.
That person is Burna Boy. His silence was loud and it was heard by the Nigerian youth who accused him of staying mute about their plight while he lives a comfortable life in London.
After much criticism, his girlfriend and musician Stefflon Don took to Twitter to explain that Burna Boy was working on something in support of the protests.
After days of being silent, Burna Boy finally tweeted in support of ending SARS and their activities.
While breaking his scilence, he also announced a project he has started to support victims of SARS.
Project Protect Nigeria is platform Burna Boy is using to raise funds to fund legal cases of the End SARS protestors who are being wrongfully detained.
Nigerians are currently fighting to shape the kind of future they want to live in.
