Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, has revealed he represented the Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC-Legon) at the National Science and Maths Quiz in 2000.
In an interview with Lexis Bill on Joy FM’s Personality Profile, Dr Okoe Boye described the 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) as a nostalgic experience for him.
Dr Okoe Boye, who is also the Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku, said although representing PRESEC-Legon at the NSMQ felt like having the entire weight of the school on his shoulders, it was also a gratifying experience to know that he was among the best.
According to him, representing PRESEC-Legon feels like “playing for the Brazilian national team.”
“It’s like playing for a group that is known to be masters of the art,” he added.
PRESEC-Legon beat Adisadel College and Opoku Ware Senior High School in the grand finale of the competition to clinch their sixth NSMQ title – the most won by any school in the history of the competition.
They previously won the competition in 1995, 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2009.
PRESEC-Legon, represented by Daniel Gakpetor, Benjamin Quansah and Isaac Gyamfi, won the contest with 36 points while Adisadel and Opoku Ware School had 31 points and 21 points respectively.
