Thomas Partey has bid an emotional farewell to fans of Atletico Madrid after signing for Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
Partey’s £45 million release from Atletico Madrid was triggered by Arsenal, paving way for him to join the Gunners on a long-term deal.
The midfielder had been with Atletico Madrid since 2012, making 188 appearances, in which time he won both the Europa League and Super Cup in 2018, and was a Champions League runner-up in 2016.
The 27-year-old is loved by a lot of Atletico Madrid fans for his superb performance for the Madrid club, and Partey has bid farewell to all the fans of the club.
“Dear Atletico fans, today I only have words of gratitude for you. For several years now, Atletico Madrid has been my home and this family will always be a part of me,” Partey wrote on Instagram.
“I want to thank the club for the trust placed in me from day one, but above all, I want to thank you, this wonderful fanbase that accepted me from the first moment and one that never stops believing in both the good and the bad times.”
“Atletico Madrid is not just a club, it is a family. Thank you,” he added.
