On September 24, we reported that Victoria Abotui, the mother of former President JJ Rawlings had passed away.
She died just weeks after she turned 101 years old.
In a statement from the office of the former President, the family explained that she died in the early hours of September 24.
As it is customary, members from the government led by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia paid a courtesy call on JJ Rawlings and his family to mourn the passing of his mother.
He led the members of government on behalf of President Akufo-Addo who is currently on a regional tour and out of the capital, Accra.
“I express government’s deepest condolences to former President Rawlings and family for the loss. May Madam Victoria rest in peace,” Dr Bawumia said.
See photos below of when Dr Bawumia and other government officials met JJ Rawlings and his family including Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings:
