Daddy Lumba is a living legend.
He’s got over 30 albums to his name alone! His discography is impressive and he owned GH music for years on end.
There’s no song of his that isn’t a hit and we know that if you do not know any song at all, you’d know his hit song Aben wor ha. Daddy Lumba is a true icon. He has gospel songs, motivational songs, his speciality love songs, campaign songs…there is nothing he couldn’t do.
I cannot talk about all his songs but, here a few you should be listening to apart from the viral Aben Wor Ha. These songs were everywhere and if you are old enough, you’d definitely remember all of them.
Enshie Wo ft Okyeame Kwame
The original Haters song! I don’t know why, but the remix makes me so happy!!! Okyeame Kwame was featured on the song and Appietus was on the production so you know it was lit! This “akutia” song is just perfect. The best song to sing to an Ex who thought you’d never be happy after your breakup. It’s just the perfect jam and Okyeame Kwame’s verse…unforgettable.
Back For Good
Who was infusing reggae in their highlife tune and still making it work back in the day? Only Daddy Lumba! He sang in English on this one, asking an ex to come back to him “for good.” Whatever it is that he did, this song should have brought her back honestly because what a beautiful jam! The ladies man had several women dancing in the video while he called for his ex to take him back…a King!
Wo ho kyer3 ft Ofori Amponsah
Personally, I remember this song from my childhood!! The song featured Ofori Amponsah and was such a vibe. It was the perfect song to do the “Daddy Lumba dance” to.
This song highlighting the different “tastes” people have is a vibe!!! Our legend was preaching on this song talking about how variety really is the spice of life. Was it sexual too? Yes, because, what good is a song without a few sexual references from Ghana’s own Marvin Gaye? Scratch that…Daddy Lumba is unmatched.
I can promise you, you know the words to this song!! On the song, Daddy Lumba and Ofori Amponsah sing about marrying a lady. It’s basically a message to the girls’ mother, telling her he wants to marry her daughter. Timeless song!
Asie Hor ft Borax
Tell me, who can get away with making a whole song about the wedding night only??? DL was way ahead of his time and he was such a ‘dirty’ artiste but of course…we loved it! I can bet you almost every Ghanaian old enough can sing the song word for word.
