Ghana Premier League clubs have expressed excitement over President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s decision to lift the restrictions placed on football activities due to COVID-19.
The President, in his 17th nation’s address on COVID-19, stated that the ban on contact sports in country has been lifted, adding that the football leagues will resume on October 30, 2020.
“With respect to football, after due consultations with the Ghana Football Association, it has been decided that the Ghana Premier League and the Division One Football League will restart on Friday, 30th October, with a full regime of testing of the players, technical and management staff,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo further indicated that the various match venues will be allowed to admit spectators for up to 25% of the capacity of the facility, adding that the wearing of face masks by spectators at stadia will be compulsory.
