Mandatory Wearing Of Face Mask Extended To December 14

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo wearing a face mask

President Akufo Addo has signed an executive instrument that has extended the mandatory wearing of facemasks.

Everybody leaving home is expected to wear face masks from now till December 14, 2020, some 7 days after the December 7 election.

This was announced by President Akufo Addo when he addressed the country for the 17th time on government’s actions towards the fight of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He tasked the security agencies to ensure that the mandatory wearing of face masks is adhered to.

The president urged Ghanaians to be prepared to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines for the foreseeable future.

He said we cannot afford to throw caution to the wind and lower our guard, adding that this would negate the work of the heroic healthcare professionals who have helped the country through this pandemic.

Ghana currently has 554 active COVID-19 cases and the wearing of face masks has been widely credited with contributing to the falling number of active cases.
