An award scheme organised by a man identified as Kwame Owusu Fordjour is being labelled as fake.

Kwame Owusu Fordjour, who was reportedly arrested in 2010 for attempting to defraud rural and community banks under the pretence of awarding them Millennium Achievers’ Gold Award, presented the alleged fake award to a number of influential people in the country.

The alleged fake award, named “UN Kofi Annan Global Award Excellence Award in Leadership”, was presented to celebrated Ghanaians including Sarkodie, D Black, Berla Mundi, DJ Black, Nathaniel Attoh and others.

The awards ceremony was reportedly held on August 28, 2020, at Alisa Hotel in Accra.

The ceremony was to recognise the achievements and leadership of celebrated Ghanaians and their contributions to Ghana’s development.

This has generated a lot of reactions on social media as Ghanaians are questioning why the recipients of the award, especially the journalists, could not verify the authenticity of the award scheme.
