Ghanaian Gospel Musician Celestine Donkor was born to Elder Gabriel Akakpo and Mrs. Hanna Akakpo and schooled at St Augustine Preparatory/JS School in Abeka Lapaz after which she enrolled at Nsaaniya Secondary Business School at Kasoa for her senior secondary certificate. She proceeded to the University of Ghana, Legon where she obtained her BA (Hons) Sociology and Information studies.
Her musical journey leading her to becoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Female Vocalist of the year started at the age of 16.
Celestine Donkor came in contact with Mr. Fred Kyei Mensah who brought her into the gospel music industry as backing vocalist at the age of 16.
According to Celestine Donkor, “meeting Fredyma was the beginning of my music career although before I met him I was already singing at Church and at church crusades. She continued he guided me as to the studio business.“
Celestine Donkor has collaborated with numerous gospel musicians, including Joe Mettle, Joyce Blessing, Ceccy Twum, Mkhululi Bhebhe, Edem, and Philipa Baafi. Her latest Album Agbebolo earned her the Artiste of the year at the National Gospel Music Awards.
Celestine Donkor won her first VGMA Award as the Female Vocalist of the Year. Celestine Donkor has 6 Awards to her name.
