Social Media is a force for good and in many ways it is also a potent weapon for wicked people.
A lady who annonymously narrated her ordeal said a guy she met on Social Media first robbed her and then raped her.
When she tried to get justice, a Doctor charged her GHS 800 before he signs her police issued medical request form.
It all started when they started chatting online and they decided to meet in person.
The guy asked her to meet him at Ablekuma around 9pm.
She arrived in an Uber and immediately after the Uber left the guy pulled a knife on her and threatened her.
That was when he took her iPhone 8, her second phone and an amount of GHS 200 she had on her.
As if that was not enough, he then ordered her to follow him to an uncompleted building where he raped her. Her cry for help did not help since people were not near by.
However, her attempt to get justice too met an institutional roadblock.
The police could not continue their investigation without a medical report.
When she went to get a medical report at the Weija Hospital, the lady claimed the doctor charged her GHS 800 before signing the report.
She then begged the police if they could start the investigation, but they also insisted they needed that report and they advised her to go back and beg the doctor to reduce his charge.
As though the trauma of being robbed and raped is not enough – she had to jump through a financial burden to secure justice.
Ghanaian actress, Ama K Abrebrese is currently campaigning for rape victims to be given free medical care.
