Kuami Eugene took home the biggest award of the VGMA night, Artiste Of The Year in addition to his Highlife Artiste of the Year award.
According to Ghud music’s broadcast monitoring service, Kuami Eugene had an exciting year. In honour of his win, here’s an analysis of Kuami Eugene’s performance on airplay for the period spanning January to December 2019 by Ghud Music:
Kuami Eugene 2018 release “Wish Me Well” still enjoyed massive airplay for the first quarter of the year. Probably a reason why he did not release a single within the first quarter. However, chart-topping songs which featured Kuami Eugene made the artiste relevant for the 2nd quarter of the year till he eventually released “Ohemaa” in June 2019.
“Ohemaa” entered the Ghud Music top ten charts for the week ending June 27th, 2019 at the 3rd position and made its way straight to the top of the charts during the week ending July 4th, 2019. Due to massive airplay, “Ohemaa” was consistently on the Ghud music top ten charts and urban chart for months.
“Obiaato” was then released in October 2019 which made its way straight to the 2nd position of the Ghud Music charts for the week ending on October 31, 2019. “Obiaato” impressively stayed within the top 6 positions on the charts from release till the end of the year 2019. There were many new music releases during that period but “Obiaato” was still receiving massive airplay nationwide.
Congrats to Kuami Eugene and the entire Lynx family for winning the VGMA awards. A lot of hard work was obviously put into putting together such chart-topping releases for 2019.
