President Akufo Addo, last Sunday announced that Kotoka International Airport is now open for business to both international inbound and outbound flights.
Following the president’s announcement, the Ghana Airports Company Limited has issued detailed guidelines for both departing and arriving passengers.
For departing passengers the guideline are fairly relaxed.
Key among those guidelines is the need for the departing passenger to meet the COVID-19 requirements of the country they are traveling to.
However, while at the Kotoka International Airport, they will be required to wear the face mask at all times.
They will be required to arrive for check-in at least four hours before the flight – it used to be three hours.
They will also be subjected to temperature screening at the airport.
For arriving passengers, there are a lot of directives for them to adhere to. The directives also affect arrivals from ECOWAS region.
The international arrivals must not be exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms and must also have a COVID-19 PCR text result and the test should have been done not more than 72 hours before the scheduled departure.
Arriving passengers will also be subjected to mandatory COVID-19 test at the airport at the cost of GHS 863 ($150).
If a passenger test positive, he or she will receive further assessment and medical treatment.
Please make sure you adhere to these requirements to avoid unnecessary restrictions to your travel.
