#GhudMusicAnalysis: How Well Sarkodie’s Music Did On Radio In 2019

The VGMAs just ended over the weekend and Sarkodie took home the awards for Best Collaboration of the Year for his song, Oofetso featuring Bright of Buk Bak and, Best International Collaboration for Lucky featuring Rudeboy.

In honour of his wins, Ghud Music, a music monitoring and analysis service provider that digitally monitors and analyzes airplay from over 75 radio stations in all regions across Ghana has presented an analysis of how Sarkodie’s music fared on radio stations in Ghana, in 2019…which is the music year in review for the VGMAs.

Analyzing Sarkodie’s performance on airplay for the period spanning January to December 2019 according to Ghud music’s broadcast monitoring service, Sarkodie had an impressive year.

Sarkodie released “I Know” in January 2019. It received massive airplay which enabled it to debut on the Ghud Music Top 10 charts at the 7th position for the week ending on January 24th, 2019.

It consistently received airplay till the “Alpha” EP dropped in June 2019 and “Odo” featuring Ebony which is off the “Alpha” EP entered the Ghud Music urban charts at the 7th position for the week ending June 20, 2019.

Singles off the “Black Love” album, such as “Lucky” was released in July 2019 before the album dropped. These singles traded places on the top 10 charts for months till the “Black love” album was released in December 2019.

Per all the data checks, Sarkodie was the most played artist in November 2019 and he continued to receive massive airplay till the end of the year.

In the Ghud Music database, Sark received consistent airplay from about 6 singles on both the Alpha EP, and the Black Love
album on 106 of our monitored radio stations for all 12 months of the year 2019.

Aside from airplay that was detected on 106 local radio stations, songs for Sarkodie was detected on 3 out of the 6 UK radio stations monitored by Ghud Music.

Congratulations to Sark for winning two awards for his excellent choice of collaborations. Obviously, a lot of hard work was put into putting together all the collaborations for his 2019 releases.
