Adele has sparked a lot of social media reactions with a photo that she posted on Instagram on Sunday.
The photo of Adele looked very unusual, as she seen clad in a Jamaican flag bikini top, feathers adorning her shoulders, gold chains around her neck and wrists and with her hair curled into Bantu Knots.
“Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London,” she wrote on Instagram.
The photo that she posted was in commemoration of the Notting Hill Carnival, which was cancelled this year due to COVID-19, but was celebrated by some people at home.
The Notting Hill Carnival, which began in 1966, is a popular annual event that’s significant in Black British culture, and it takes place during the Sunday and Monday of the country’s August Bank Holiday weekend.
Adele’s photo became the subject of criticism on social media as some people called the singer out for what they viewed to be cultural appropriation.
But other people saw nothing wrong with Adele’s photo. They also condemned people who were criticising Adele for her hairstyle and attire.
While people were arguing and debating over Adele’s photo, others took time to create dancehall remixes of some of Adele’s songs.
