The 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) was held for two days; 28th & 29th August 2020 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Unlike previous VGMAs, this year’s did not have a large audience due to the need to oberve social distancing as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
But COVID-19 did not stop the organisers from putting up an amazing show.
Kuami Eugene, a 2017 Kuulpeeps Emerger, was adjudged winner of the 2020 VGMA Artiste of the Year award.
He also won the Highlife Artiste of the Year for the third time.
Kuami Eugene, however, is not the only Kuulpeeps Emerger who won awards at the 2020 VGMA.
Kuulpeeps Emergers has been held for three years now and every musician that is featured goes on to become a star.
And this was evident at this year’s VGMA as a number of Kuulpeeps Emergers won some of the top awards.
Below is a list of Emergers who won at the 2020 VGMA:
Gene Adu (Emergers 2020)
Gene Adu won the Best Video of the Year for directing the video of Cina Soul’s Killi Mi.
DopeNation (Emergers 2017)
DopeNation won two awards: Best Group of the Year and Afrobeat Song of the Year (Zanku).
J. Derobie (Emergers 2020)
J Derobie won the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year with his hit song Poverty.
Kofi Mole (Emergers 2019)
Kofi Mole won the Hip-Pop Song of the Year with his song Don’t Be Late.
Kwesi Arthur (Emergers 2017)
Kwesi Arthur won the Best Rapper of the Year.
KiDi (Emergers 2017)
KiDi won the Album of the Year with his album, Sugar, which was released on May 31, 2019.
Kuami Eugene (Emergers 2017)
Kuami Eugene won the Highlife Artiste of the Year and the biggest award of the night; Artiste of the Year.
