Kofi Kinaata was adjudged winner of the Songwriter of the Year award for his song Things Fall Apart, at the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Winning this award made Kinaata the first artiste to win the Songwriter of the Year, three times. He previously won the award back to back in 2016 (Susuka) and 2017 (Confession).
Kinaata beat King Promise (Bra), Akwaboah (Sandra), Diana Hamilton (W’asem), Lamisi (Oh Me) and Epixode (Wahala Dey) to win the award.
He was not present at the ceremony which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Friday, August 28, 2020, but he took to social media to indicate his appreciation to God, his fans and everyone who voted for him to ensure that he won the award.
“Thanks to God! Thanks to all my fans worldwide,” he wrote on Twitter
His fans were also excited and they also took to Twitter to congratulate him.
