Chelsea have signed Brazilian defender Thiago Silva on a free transfer, after he passed a medical in Milan on Thursday.
The 35-year-old left Paris Saint-Germain after their Champions League final defeat on August 23, 2020 to Bayern Munich. He spent 8 years at PSG and played over 200 games for the Paris club, winning seven consecutive Ligue 1 titles.
Thiago Silva signed a one-year contract with Chelsea, with the club having the option of a further 12 months.
Looking ahead to his new challenge, Thiago Silva said: “I am so happy to be joining Chelsea.”
“I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours.”
