Two days ago, Nigerian music producer and CEO of Gaaga Muzik, Larry Gaaga celebrated his birthday with the release of a new single titled “Owo Ni Koko”. This features Akunwafor Obiligbo and Okpuozor Obiligbo, popularly known as Umu Obiligbo.

Owo Ni Koko which means, money is essential, comes after the announcement of his signing to Def Jam Africa earlier in the year.

With regards to the idea behind the song which was recorded during the lockdown, Larry Gaaga noticed that people spend all their time trying to prove to social media that they are wealthy and often, most are unable to maintain the lifestyle. Recording and releasing “Owo Ni Koko” for him, is a celebration of the hustler’s spirit: “Apply yourself to supply your wealth, only limitation is other material things you place heavy emphasis on.”

The song has that traditional Nigerian music feel to it and towards the end of the video, the traditional attires, dances and the feel of the song adds an interesting touch, at least for those of us, oblivious to the Naija culture.

“Owo Ni Koko” was written by Larry Gaaga, Umu Ubiligbo and produced by Richard Odeyemi and follows his last single, Hold On which featured Efya and M.I.
