The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Dr Oluwatoyin Ogundipe said that school will resume in the next month or two. He disclosed this during a virtual interactive session on Instagram on August 8, 2020.
According to him, he said: “We must resume this year. If we don’t resume this year then what is the raw material we are working with. Whether we like it or not, COVID has come in and we have to work with it.”
The VC also made some clarifications as regard lectures and exams. He made it known that the semester won’t be starting all over but will be continued from where it stopped.
Recall that The Academic Staff Union of Universities (Asuu), on March 9, 2020, went on a two-week warning strike after the government failed to fulfil their promises and also insisted on non-payment of salaries of lecturers not enrolled in the Federal Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.
Both parties have had few meetings and negotiations which yielded little or no success before the Coronavirus pandemic which made the federal government declare lockdown measures in curbing the outbreak.
