GES To Surcharge Final Year SHS Students Who Destroy School Property

KNUST SHS students demonstrate

Final year students of Senior High Schools in the country are sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

However, from all indications, some of the students were particularly unhappy about the controversial Integrated Science paper.

Before the students sat for the paper, there were reports that it was leaked, to which both the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC) released separate statements denying that the questions have been leaked.

Now, after sitting for the paper, some of the students were unhappy. They claimed the questions were difficult and the invigilators did not give them room to ask their friends.

Students of Tweneboa Kodua in particular rejected their dining food and even destroyed school property.

The GES has since released a statement condemning the actions of the students and promising to surcharge all students who were involved in the destruction of school property.

Directors have been directed to take action on all such misconducts and submit reports to the Director General, Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa immediately, the statement added.

The 2020 WASSCE is ongoing.
