Twitter Reacts To Video Of Final Student Insulting The President

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

The 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has been engulfed with a lot of controversies since it officially commenced on Monday, August 3, 2020.

Prior to the commencement of the exams, a paper was allegedly leaked to help the students pass the exams. The Ghana Education Service, however, debunked this claim.

There have been a number of viral videos on social media of students agitating over strict supervision during the exams.

Some students of the Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region were seen in a video vandalizing school property and also threatened to boycott the exams, indicating that their school authorities were “too strict” during the supervision of their first paper.

Another video of final year students complaining about the exams has popped up on social media. In this video, a student is seen insulting the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The student, who was supported by his colleagues, indicated that they will vote against the President in the 2020 elections if he does not ensure that they all pass the examination.

This video has generated some interesting reactions on Twitter.

While most people condemned what the student did, others stated that the student should not be blamed for his action.

According to them, the leaders of the country should rather be blamed because they also trade insults, and that is what the youth are learning.

Others also tried to justify the student’s action by politicizing the issue.

They indicated that renowned Ghanaian lawyer Ace Ankomah once stated that it was “not an offence to insult” the President at that time, J.E.A Mills, therefore, the student did no wrong by insulting President Akufo-Addo.

The justification of the student’s action by politicizing it was condemned.
