Jamaica may be a small country but they’ve influenced music all over the world!!!

They’re known so much for their music; Reggae, Dancehall is currently enjoyed and fused with several other genres across the world.

Their famous style of Toasting (an MC speaking rapidly over a beat) influenced rap styles and common genres now such as UK’s grime and Lovers rock as well as other genres were all influenced by the vibrant music scene in Jamaica.

With this in mind, here are some artistes from Jamaica who make really good music. Apart from Popcaan, Bob Marley, Chronixx and other very popular dancehall artistes you know, here are some artistes you should look out for and some of my favourite songs from them!

Sevana

She’s got a beautiful voice that’s almost soulful. If you are into emotional music heavy on the traditional R&B and soul genre, you should listen to her. She does an superb job at fusing it with the reggae/dancehall sound.

Spice

Spice is one of the popular female dancehall artistes. She broke into the music scene in the early 2000s and has been unstoppable since then. She’s gone global and topped Billboard charts. Her energy and talent is crazy and her music is usually so bold and raunchy!

Royal Blu

One of the current new age artistes, Royal Blu does reggae and usually fuses hiphop to give it an even more modern feel to his music. He gives off a unique sound that’s very enjoyable.

Blvk H3ro

The young artiste’s soothing voice was a bit unexpected for me but his talent is immensely obvious. For me, it’s his style and lyricism that had me hooked to his music and of course, the positive vibe that emanates from most of his music.

Shenseaa

After she blew up sometime around 2017, she’s showed no signs of stopping anytime soon. Shenseaa is one of the hottest reggae/dancehall artistes in Jamaica right now and if you want another reason to listen to her, know that she’s got a song with our very own Shatta Wale.

Koffee

After falling in love with Koffee ever since her Rapture EP, I don’t think I have to tell you about Koffe’s brilliance when it comes to music because now, the whole world knows! She never misses and she’s poised for greatness.

There are a lot more artistes I’d love to introduce to you because Jamaica’s music scene is THRIVING with so much talent!! Explore their music today and let us know what you think!
