Southampton have completed a deal to sign Ghanaian centre-back Mohammed Salisu from Real Valladolid for a fee of £10.9m, Sky Sports reports.
Salisu agreed to a four-year deal to St Mary’s after a buyout clause in his contract was triggered by the Saints.
The report also suggests that the 21-year-old will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period once he arrives in the UK from Spain due to coronavirus control measures.
It was reported in July that Salisu had undergone a successful medical in Spain ahead of his move to Southampton.
Salisu started 30 of Valladolid’s 38 La Liga matches in the just-ended season, helping his team to finish with the league’s 5th best defense.
It was his debut season with the first team after graduating from the B team. He scored his only goal in a 2-0 triumph over Eibar last October.
Salisu was also named alongsie Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati, and Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde in the La Liga breakout team of the 2019/2020 season.
Below are his stats compared to other central defenders in Europe’s top five leagues in the 2019/20 season:
