President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, July 26, 2020, addressed the nation and gave an update on Ghana’s enhanced response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
This was his 14th address to the nation on what his government is doing to combat COVID-19 in the country.
In this address, the President announced phase two of the easing of the COVID-19 induced restrictions.
As part of the measures, commercial vehicles are to return to loading the normal number of passengers in their vehicles.
The President also extended the duration of religious activities for churches and mosques in the country from one to two hours.
He also indicated that night clubs and cinemas should remain closed, while drinking spots and tourist sites can now reopen.
Unlike previous addresses by the President, this address did not generate much concern and opinions from Ghanaians.
This was evident in some tweets that we sighted, as some Ghanaians indicated that they are fed up with the President’s addresses on COVID-19.
Some people do not even listen to him anymore as they used to.
Others indicated that the speeches are now too long, and he is just using the opportunity to subtly propagate his campaign message.
Yeah, so that’s the whole story, Ghanaians are saying they are tired… And Cortez thinks the shirt the President wore for the address, explains it.
