What We Are Listening To This Week: Phronesis’ Blessing

Cover art for Phronesis' Blessing

I have always felt the reggae/dancehall genre in Ghana isn’t represented as much as the other genres. You can count the number of artistes actively pursuing and making the best out of it. It is so underrepresented and needs to be explored so bad that when I find an artiste exploring the genre and doing it excellently, I get super attached.

From the very first time I discovered Phronesis after his debut single, Streets We Dey, I’ve been anxious to see him “blow”.

He dropped new music (his third single since he appeared in the music industry) some days ago and as expected, it’s nothing short of AMAZING! Trust me when I say it’s so good I cannot find the right words to describe exactly how it feels when you listen to it.

You need to experience it yourself.

Blessing is a near-spiritual song where Phronesis offers hope for better days in fluent patois over a very impressive production by Psyko. I honestly couldn’t find the feature from Kwe because it all blended so well with everything else. A soothing fusion that results in this timeless song.

The song comes as a single off Phronesis’ debut EP, Evergreen and if you’re looking for that new song that can be stuck on replay and never get tiring, this is the song you should be listening to.
