Beyonce Negotiates New Distribution Deal For Africans To Watch Her “Black Is King” Visual Album

One of the exciting things that will be happening this month is the release of the much anticipated film by Beyonce called “Black Is King.”

The visual album is inspired by her album called “Lion King: The Gift Album” which featured African musicians. She released the album last year as part of the Lion King movie album.

When Beyonce first announced the exclusive Disney+ deal to release the “Black Is King” visual album, many criticized the move since many Africans living on the African continent would not be able to watch the film meant to celebrate Africans.

With a new trailer released yesterday, Beyonce and her team also announced a new distribution deal that is specifically targeting people living in Africa.

In addition to its July 31st premiere on Disney+, Beyonce has also secured a distribution deal that will allow for its showing on much of the African continent, including South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Namibia, Cameroon, Liberia, Burundi, Senegal, Togo, Somalia, Benin, Congo, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Gabon, Cape Verde and more.

The deal was signed with MultiChoice Group that will distribute the film through M-Net and Canal+ Afrique.

“Black Is King” was in production for one year and features an impressive list of diverse voices on its creative team, including directors Emmanuel Adjei, Blitz Bawazule, Pierre Debusschere, Jenn Nkiru, Ibra Ake, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jake Nava and co-director and long-time collaborator of Beyonce, Kwasi Fordjour.
