GES Confirms Death Of Final Year Student Of Methodist Girls SHS

A final year student of the Methodist Girls Senior High School (MEGHIS) at Mamfe, Akuapem in the Eastern Region has died.

The Ghana Education Service confirmed this in a statement signed by its Head of Public Relations, Cassandra Twum Ampofo.

According to the GES, the deceased – Cindy Aku Sika Addo – died on Friday July 17, 2020.

“Management of the school quickly rushed Cindy to Tetteh Quarshie Hospital at Mampong around 11pm on Thursday, July 16, 2020, when her friends detected that she was not well,” the statement read.

The GES further indicated that Cindy’s parents were immediately informed and they went to the hospital to see her, adding that she was later referred to the Koforidua Regional Hospital where she was diagnosed of acute malaria.

“Unfortunately she passed on the next day on Friday July 17, 2020,” the statement indicated.
